Don't forget to check out my YouTube video about these products as well! It'll be uploaded tomorrow!
I've struggled with dry skin for the majority of my life. Ever since lower school, I've had eczema and dry skin. My eczema would get worse in the summer, and my dry skin would get worse in the fall/winter. BUT, it wasn't until I was in college that I realized I needed good, quality beauty products and a real skincare regimen.
Not only has skincare been a problem for me, but ever since I stopped regularly straightening and blow drying my hair, going natural has been an issue, too. Come on, there are thousands of YouTube videos about hair products for naturalists, but how am I supposed to know which ones are are no-go without breaking the bank?
It took me years (and quite a bit of money) to find out what products work best with my skin and hair, and I have decided to compile a list just for you!
#1: No7 Cleansing Balm
This stuff is like MAGIC. I have not broken out once since I've used this product. It has a creamy consistency with minimal fragrance. Also, it's hypo-allergenic! The best part is how easy it is to use; all you have to do is wet your hands, rub in the product, rinse, and pat dry with a towel. It doesn't leave your skin dry afterward! You can buy it at Target, ULTA, and now Walgreen's!
#2: HEMPZ Ultra Moisturizing Herbal Lip Balm (enriched with 100% pure natural hemp seed oil)
I started using this lip balm a few months ago, and it has become my favorite lip product. It has a thick (but not too thick) consistency, and it helps moisturize dry lips. It's especially helpful during the winter months when skin becomes the driest. I found mine at ULTA Beauty.
#3: Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Moisture Hand Cream
I needed a hand lotion that was going to moisturize my dry skin. Because I live in the Midwest, the winters can be very rough and very hard on my hands. So, I picked up this lotion from Walgreen's and have been using it ever since. It has also been accepted by the National Eczema Association, which is good to know because I struggle with eczema on my hands as well.
#4: The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey (For sensitive, dry skin) Calming & Protecting Body Lotion
Although I swear by the Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion (#10), this lotion is the TRUTH. I'd suggest this product if you suffer from dry and itchy skin like me. It helps to not only moisturize, but calm your dry and itchy skin. Also, because my skin is very sensitive, I need a lotion that can cater to that as well. There is a fragrance to the product (which I normally avoid because it can be irritating to my skin), but I have not broken out since using it! It also smells amazing! I found this at ULTA Beauty.
#5: Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
This can be found at pretty much any store that sells beauty products (Walgreen's, ULTA, Target, etc.). I do NOT use this to take off my mascara and eyeliner, however, because it irritates my eyes and causes dryness. But, I do use it for taking off my eyebrow products and any other makeup on my face and neck. You can also use it for getting rid of dirt and oil in the morning or at night before/after cleansing your skin. This does not require rinsing afterward.
#6: Bath & Body Works Mentha Lip Shine
If you're not a fan of lip gloss (and thick, sticky ones at that), this might not be the product for you. HOWEVER, it moisturizes your lips and you can definitely feel the product working because it tingles once you put it on. I own the Vanillamint flavor, and I've used it for the past couple of years when I want a natural look or when I just want shiny lips! You can find this product at Bath and Body Works.
#7: Dove (Powder) Deodorant
This is the only deodorant that doesn't break out my underarms and that also has a light fragrance that won't irritate them. You can find this product literally anywhere that sells brand-name deodorants!
#8: ULTA Beauty Touch-Up Facial Razors
I don't know about you, but I hate my upper lip hair. I've had it since the fifth grade, and ever since then, I've tried to get rid of it. Nair is too rough on my skin (I found this out the hard way), and regular body razors aren't sharp enough (and are also too big). I bit the bullet and decided to get something smaller that I knew would remove every single one of the hairs on my upper lip, and it does! The blades are super sharp, and the razor is protected by a small cap that you can put back on after you're done. I partner this up with my sensitive skin Dove bar soap and then wash my face to moisturize that part of my skin and to prevent dryness and irritation. Be careful! Though the blades are small, they're very sharp! And, three come in a pack!
#9: Cortizone 10 (Maximum Strength: Intensive Healing Formula)
This is my staple product for my eczema. Find this at Target, Walmart, or Walgreen's, and use it for any small areas on your body that have been affected by eczema. It's also good for when your skin is irritated by poison oak/ivy, detergent, jewelry, insect bites, soaps, and more!
#10: Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion
If you need a deep moisturizing lotion, this is the one for you! It has a very thick and rich consistency without making your skin feel very greasy. It's good for those rough and dry patches on your skin that need a little extra kick of moisturizing. You can find this at ULTA, Target, Walmart, and Walgreen's! I haven't used this on my face, but I'm sure it works well for that, too.
I hope you check out some of these products! If you have any questions, email me!
